A Note from Our Founder:

I remember being 7 years old and daydreaming about what I would be when I grow up. I imagined having this great big house that had lots of bedrooms. I wanted to find people that were struggling in life and help them find their way. Now, don’t ask me how I knew that was something that was actually needed in the world, because I have no idea. Nonetheless, that was the dream in my heart!

I was married directly out of high school, started my family, and life never provided me with the great big house in my dream. It did allow me to raise my children, their friends, some extras, and learn many things along the way!

At some point, life changed, a lot. I found myself in the world and needing a job to support my family. With no skills created by being in the workforce, 2011 proved to be a tough year to find a job, anywhere! I finally landed a position in a little restaurant in South Toledo, Shawn’s Irish Tavern, and started my journey to a career! This little restaurant had an owner that literally changed my life. Mike Shoyer taught me what it meant to be an owner, a leader, and an example. He also tried to lessen the blow of the reality this world had to offer as I was not prepared!

After a few years in the restaurant industry, I decided it wasn’t for me and moved to retail where my career took on a life of its own! I worked tirelessly to learn as much as I could, as fast as I could! I was a sponge in every environment I could find to learn! It took less than three years for me to find my way up the corporate ladder and into supporting roles for large multi-unit markets, millions in sales, and managing hundreds of people! My market sat in the top 5 for overallincrease in a division that encompassed five states.

I found myself tired of the plan B most corporate entities operate on and left that company. I took a few months off to enjoy the summer with my family and found another company to jump in and make some magic happen! I was recognized on national calls for double digit increases categorically and in overall increase in sales volume. That lasted a few years before the same plan B corporate operation took its toll. This is not to say I did not learn anything from eithercompany. I learned more that I can articulate here, both positive and negative. However, they had the same mindset. It just wasn’t for me.

Fast forward, one morning I had an argument with myself in the mirror about how I was the only person I ever let hold me back… it’s true. I am not the person to just sit back and ride life out to whatever it wants to hand me. I had been arguing with myself about starting my own company, I told myself I was too old, and no one would take me seriously. I learned I wasn’t so uncommon!

Before the end of the day, I had a DBA, website started, designs started… I was on my way!

Three years ago, I took a leap on my own talent, created my own brand, and have been riding a wave since!

In developing the BiziQology brand, I learned a few really important things. First, not everyone wants a business consultant. (Funny) Second, I had to take time to develop a reputation of trust, loyalty, and integrity amongst the communities I wanted to serve. Let’s face it. A business consultant basically walks in and asks you to bear your soul. That’s really scary. Most are very protective of the work they have put in and aren’t going to trust just anyone! I took my time, created relationships, and listened to business owners from every community I could get to. All while still working my corporate job, by the way.

Most had a very similar story of starting their business, great at the service they were providing, but not really great at the basic infrastructure of business. They learned many things the hard way. The one thing that stood out, always, was they felt they had no resource to find the education they desperately needed to succeed!

I am only one person, with so many hours in the day. I put my thinking cap on and started talking to other trusted business owners and asked what they think of this concept! They were so excited to be a part of something that offered exactly what the community needed!

Thus, IMPACT Business Community was born! A place of education, resource, connection, relationships, and growth!

Here is my vision:

I want this community to support businesses across the state from the most organic opportunities. Being a presenter can grow your customer base, your referral partners, and help you create strategic alliances. We meet with you to establish whether you are working to penetrate the market you’re known in or focused on expanding your market. We will find a venue that supports those efforts and market to that community!

We move our events around from community to community to ensure all have an opportunity to meet new owners. The more businesses connected across the communities; the better referrals are passed. I am sure there are many days you walk into networking events wishing there were new people to connect to. We work hard to make sure there is a room full of new faces. The last event had more than 170 in attendance!

Many owners say they need support in finding new leads. To me, this has to go back to the roots. Let’s take a look at your presentation or your pitch. Sometimes a bit of restructuring can make all the difference.

Large business owners typically prefer to work with smaller business owners because there is less red tape and you can work directly with the person, which creates a better experience. We provide the platform for these businesses to meet.

  • Workshops that are hands on and thought provoking.
  • Panel of Experts – different topics but a wealth of knowledge
  • Small Groups that are focused on building relationships with other businesses in different industries, specifically focused on building strategic partnerships
  • This Mobile APP is off the hook! I am so excited to bring this to the community!

I am beyond proud of what we have accomplished in such a short period of time!

I want to take a moment to thank the business owners that have come together to make this happen!

In starting this, it became very apparent I would need to structure this as though I was building the empire state building. We have a board, a business development committee, and ambassadors to support our growth. I am very proud of the team that functions as the foundation of this community!

In planning, my heart is dedicated to the development of the businesses that depend on us. One thing has always been very clear, they need funding. So, we went pen to paper on this and created a foundation that invests financial support via an application process. It is also equipped with a board and a committee that serves that board. There will be more about this in the coming weeks. This foundation will also support internships for high school and college students to not only support them in their growth, but to support the business community with qualified employees.

So, let’s take a journey back to my 7 year old dream! I don’t have the house in my dream, but I do get to help so many in bringing their dreams to fruition! While I have had the opportunity in every career path to help people, there is a bit of pinch me in this as I am literally watching my dreams come true. It’s quite incredible!
